Freight Shipping & Delivery Terms

KG Warehouse Equipment ships infrastructure-grade systems via insured LTL or dedicated freight carriers within the continental United States.

All shipments are palletized or crated and delivered dock-to-dock or curbside. Freight services do not include inside delivery, installation, assembly, or site placement.

These terms define freight classification, delivery requirements, inspection procedures, accessorial charges, and allocation of responsibility.

1. Freight Classification & Rate Determination

Freight charges are determined by:

  • NMFC freight class (density-based)
  • Weight and pallet dimensions
  • Delivery ZIP code
  • Commercial vs. residential classification
  • Accessorial services (liftgate, appointment, limited access)

Freight class may vary based on configuration, packaging density, and pallet height. Changes in product quantity or crating may change classification.

If the carrier reclassifies a shipment due to inaccurate or incomplete information provided by the buyer, all reclassification charges and associated fees are the responsibility of the buyer.

Freight is typically quoted prepaid and added unless otherwise agreed in writing.

2. Liftgate & Unloading Requirements

Standard freight delivery assumes:

  • Active loading dock
    OR
  • Forklift or unloading equipment capable of handling palletized freight

Liftgate service must be requested prior to shipment.

Operational constraints:

  • Most liftgates are limited to approximately 1,500–2,000 lbs
  • Oversized crated systems may exceed liftgate platform dimensions
  • Liftgate service does not include inside delivery

If liftgate service is required but not disclosed before shipment, the carrier may:

  • Refuse delivery
  • Assess redelivery fees
  • Charge additional accessorial fees

Buyer is responsible for confirming unloading capability prior to shipment.

3. Appointment Scheduling & Accessorial Charges

Certain deliveries require appointment scheduling.

Carriers may assess additional charges for:

  • Limited access locations (schools, military bases, gated sites, construction zones)
  • Residential deliveries
  • Re-delivery attempts
  • Detention beyond standard unloading time
  • Terminal storage after failed delivery
  • Reconsignment or address corrections

Failure to receive freight at the scheduled appointment may result in redelivery and storage fees.

All carrier-imposed accessorial charges resulting from site conditions are the responsibility of the buyer.

4. Delivery Site Requirements

The delivery site must provide:

  • Legal and safe access for a 53’ tractor trailer unless otherwise arranged
  • Adequate turning radius and overhead clearance
  • Clear dock access or safe unloading area
  • Personnel capable of receiving freight

Driver discretion governs safety. If site conditions are deemed unsafe or inaccessible, delivery may be refused at carrier discretion. Redelivery fees will apply.

Drivers are not responsible for:

  • Moving freight inside the building
  • Navigating narrow interior corridors
  • Breaking down pallets
  • Positioning equipment
  • Installation or anchoring

Standard service is dock delivery or curbside placement only.

5. Risk of Loss & Title Transfer

Unless otherwise specified in writing:

  • Title and risk of loss transfer to the buyer upon carrier pickup (FOB Shipping Point).

Carrier insurance covers transit-related damage only. Site conditions, unloading errors, and post-delivery handling are not carrier liability.

6. Inspection & Damage Documentation Procedure

All shipments must be inspected before signing the Bill of Lading (BOL).

Required at delivery:

  1. Inspect all pallets and crates for visible damage.
  2. Open packaging if damage is suspected.
  3. Document specific damage on the BOL (e.g., “crate crushed – left corner – possible rack beam damage”).
  4. Take timestamped photographs.

Notations such as “subject to inspection” are insufficient for freight claims.

If severe damage is observed:

  • The shipment may be refused
  • Damage must be documented in detail

Refusal without documented damage may result in return freight charges.

Concealed damage:

  • Must be reported within 48 hours of delivery
  • Requires photo documentation
  • All packaging must be retained

Failure to follow documentation procedures may void carrier claim eligibility.

7. Refused Shipments

Shipments refused for reasons other than documented transit damage may incur:

  • Return freight charges
  • Restocking fees
  • Storage charges

Custom-configured or made-to-order systems may be non-returnable.

8. Storage & Terminal Handling

If delivery cannot be completed due to site unavailability, the carrier may:

  • Hold freight at terminal
  • Assess daily storage charges
  • Return freight to origin at buyer expense

KG Warehouse Equipment is not responsible for terminal storage fees resulting from missed appointments or incomplete site preparation.

9. Partial Shipments & Lead Time Variability

Large system orders may ship in multiple consignments.

Lead times vary based on:

  • Manufacturing schedules
  • Custom configurations
  • Carrier capacity
  • Seasonal freight conditions

Estimated ship dates are not delivery guarantees.

Transit times are carrier estimates only and are non-binding.

10. Responsibility Summary

KG Warehouse Equipment is responsible for:

  • Coordinating insured freight
  • Providing shipment documentation
  • Assisting with properly documented freight claims

The carrier is responsible for:

  • Safe transit
  • Delivery within the selected service level

The buyer is responsible for:

  • Accurate site disclosure
  • Unloading capability
  • Appointment compliance
  • Accessorial charges caused by site conditions
  • Inspection and documentation at delivery

Installation, anchoring, engineering approval, permitting, and site preparation are not included in freight services.

Qualification-Oriented CTA

If your facility lacks a dock, has limited access, or requires coordinated multi-pallet system delivery, speak with a warehouse equipment specialist before shipment to prevent reclassification, detention, or redelivery fees.

Structured warehouse equipment sourcing, not catalog sprawl

If your team is evaluating warehouse equipment, storage systems, or material handling infrastructure, start with a qualified quote process instead of a retail-style browse path.
